| Cute town. One of the first that we passed through. |
We got up Tuesday morning had toast and coffee, loaded the panniers and a small backpack, put on our warmest cycling clothes and headed out. The main problem with getting started was the lack of road signs. After a few wrong turns we got headed towards Felixstowe. We biked through the country on a small road by farms and a few small towns and eventually ended up in a sort of suburb of Felixstowe . We worked our way towards the coast and shortly ended up in downtown business district.

We biked around the beach then found our room at the aging Brook Hotel. It looks straight out of the early 70s. In fact the whole town looked like a 70s era seaside town that had seen more glorious days. It reminded me a bit of Surfside beach in the 70s. The Brook was quite a classy spot in its time. Now it needs paint and some plumbing work but it's condition suits me fine. The down side of the economic downturn for Felixstowe was the demise of the older pubs. The ones we found were either past their prime or to touristy. We had lunch at a touristy one called the Grosvenor then got a nice ice cream at the beach then went to the Cork. The Cork was a dingy spot but it had a cool old wrought iron second floor balcony overlooking the beach. A nice place for a pint. After that we decided to go back to the room for a rest then go to a fish and chips takeaway. We found a cool quick shop and got a few red stripes, picked up the food and ate on the granite boulders on the beach.
After that we were about done for the day. We walked a little more, checked out the Vegas style arcade, had a half pint of Tetley at the 70s style Brook hotel bar and went back to the room.
Time to rest up for tomorrows bike ride to
